Whatever brand you want, or whatever we think fits if you have no preference. We install and support all of it.

Cabling

The part you put in once and live with for fifteen years.

Access points get replaced every five years or so. Switches last maybe seven. Cable stays in the wall until someone renovates, which is why we'd rather over-spec it than come back.

Cat6 is the baseline. Cat6A goes in wherever multi-gig is likely, which on a new install is most places. Solid copper only. Copper-clad aluminium passes a basic continuity test and then behaves badly the moment you put any real power on it.

What that includes

  • Cat6 and Cat6A copper, fiber between buildings
  • Terminated on patch panels, never straight into a switch
  • Every run tested, results handed to you per drop
  • Labeled at both ends, matching the panel and the diagram
  • Service loops left for whoever moves the rack later
  • Rack, cable management, and closet cleanup

Wireless

Placement from walking the building, not from a floor plan.

Most complaints about slow Wi-Fi turn out not to be about Wi-Fi. It's a saturated circuit, an access point uplinked at a gigabit when it needs more, two APs sitting on the same channel, or an AP in a hallway sixty feet from where anyone actually works.

So we measure before we quote. Sometimes the honest answer is that you need one more access point and a channel plan, not a full refresh. We'll say so.

What that includes

  • Survey with real measurements, indoors and out
  • AP placement and mounting, including high ceilings
  • Channel and power plan, written down
  • Guest networks with isolation and rate limits
  • Point-to-point links to outbuildings
  • Re-survey after racking or layout changes

Switching and routing

Sized for what you'll plug in, with room left over.

Port count is the easy part and the cheapest thing to add later. What's expensive to get wrong is power budget, uplink speed, and whether the gateway can handle your circuit once inspection is switched on.

We work that out on paper before anything is ordered, and we show you the arithmetic.

What that includes

  • Power budget calculated across every powered device
  • Uplinks sized so the access layer isn't throttled
  • Gateway matched to your real circuit speed
  • Static addressing for anything you'd need during an outage
  • Dual-WAN and cellular backup where uptime justifies it
  • Site-to-site links between locations

Firewalls and segmentation

Guest traffic away from your files. Everything else away from both.

Flat networks work fine until a compromised thermostat can reach the accounting workstation, or someone on the lobby Wi-Fi can browse the file share.

The overcorrection is worse: fourteen VLANs, no rules between them, and every troubleshooting session ending in a permissive any-any rule that undoes the whole exercise. We usually land on five networks, each one there for a reason you can say out loud.

What that includes

  • Segmentation by trust level and device type
  • Default-deny between segments, exceptions written down
  • Guest isolation and bandwidth limits
  • Containment for cameras, thermostats, and anything else with firmware nobody updates
  • Remote access that doesn't become the easiest way in
  • Default credentials found and removed

Cameras

Sized for the retention you actually want, not the brochure figure.

Cameras write continuously and forever. How long you keep footage is a function of resolution, frame rate, and how many of them there are, and it's worth being honest about that number before the drives are bought.

Camera traffic also stays off the network everyone else is using, both for security and because it's constant.

What that includes

  • Coverage planned around what you need to identify
  • Storage sized against continuous recording, not motion-only
  • Cameras on their own segment with no internet access
  • Mounting, aiming, and focus set on site
  • Remote and mobile viewing
  • A written retention and access policy

Door access

Badges you revoke instead of locks you rekey.

Rekeying after every turnover costs real money and there's no record of who went where. Card and fob access fixes both, and it integrates with the same console as the rest of the network.

What that includes

  • Door hardware assessment and reader selection
  • Hub placement and wiring
  • Credentials and schedules per person and per door
  • Fail-safe or fail-secure decided per door, deliberately
  • Audit history you can query
  • A written onboarding and offboarding procedure

Assessments

For networks that exist and nobody can fully explain.

Most networks we inherit were fine when they went in. They grew a device at a time, each addition sensible on its own, and then the person who set it up moved on.

We map what's actually there, find what's misconfigured or out of support, and hand you a written picture of it. Often this is the cheapest thing we do and the most useful.

  • Physical and logical topology mapped
  • Configuration and firmware reviewed
  • Segmentation and access reviewed
  • Cabling and closet condition reported
  • Findings ranked, with what each one costs to fix
  • The full documentation set, yours to keep

Ongoing support

A monthly contract, if you'd rather call one person than three vendors.

Not everyone wants this and we won't push it. Plenty of clients have us build something and then call once a year.

For the ones who do want it: we watch the things that tend to precede an outage, keep firmware on a known version rather than chasing latest, and deal with your ISP so you don't have to.

What that includes

  • Monitoring on uplinks, power draw, temperature, and storage
  • Firmware and configuration changes managed
  • User and device onboarding
  • We talk to your ISP and vendors instead of you
  • A quarterly look at capacity and what's aging
  • Documentation kept current, not written once

Some of this we do outside of business hours

Break/fix calls and the occasional high-end house happen, mostly for people we already know. It isn’t the main business, so ask rather than assume — if we can’t fit it in, we’ll say so instead of stringing you along.
